This is our most widely used aerobic formula. It yields good broad spectrum results and is very easy to read.
Positive tests are usually indicated by a color change to yellow, from the beginning red-orange color. Turbidity
which will not settle out also indicates growth.
Standard salinity is 5,000 ppm as NaCl, but this can be varied to match the sample. Shelf life is 6 months if refrigerated.
Warm storage can lower pH and slowly alter the color of unused vials. Phenol Red bacteria bottles come 288 to the case.
